This mail from you about the mime.types is old, right?  I.e., it should be
fixed (for several minutes when I sent out the mail).
The right way to configure Apache is to NOT use mime.types.  It has an
AddType directive where you tell it the extensions and it doesn't know about
.tgz by default (it does know .gz and .tar, and hence .tar.gz).  It should
be all ok now, as I said in the mail.
