self compile with SSA simplifier

You could try re-making with the i386-glibc21-linux-gcc version of gcc on
Red Hat 7.1 (and probably 7.*) machines, but my guess is that that is the same
as copying the binaries.  The `interesting' question is if it is a gcc bug or
a libc bug, or a system change.  It looks like they are just trying to do som
sysconf system calls.  I'll try making the old SML/NJ on my machine and see
if I can narrow it down.
If you just want the binaries, I can send them to you.
