Warning: caching getpid() isn't completely trivial because after a fork
system call my pid changes.  For the Posix.Process.fork the library could just
be goosed, but what about a C library that internally calls fork?
In addition to that, any caching would have to be invalidated in the
MLton.saveWorld world.
