Yes,  you  definitely  want  to  return  the .revents members.  As to the the
length of the result, the new basis library spec says that only items with  a
nonempty  subset of the conditions specified cause it to appear in the result
list.  Are you seeing elements in the result with the  poll  in  flag  false?
That certainly looks like a bug to me (in SML/NJ, right?).
