On my system, I get:
   [ 3] .gnu.hash GNU_HASH 0000000000400240 00000240
        00000000000000c0 0000000000000000 A 4 0 8

My Fedora Core 6 box has:

[fluet at shadow ~]$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-51)

[fluet at shadow ~]$ as --version
GNU assembler 2.17.50.0.6-2.fc6 20061020

[fluet at shadow ~]$ gdb --version
GNU gdb Red Hat Linux (6.5-15.fc6rh)
This GDB was configured as "x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu".

In any case, I don't have much else to suggest, other than we seem to be
suffering a binary incompatibility, which may or may not be responsible
for the SIGFPE.
