Hmmm, my path is certainly more normal looking.

% echo $PATH
/home/sweeks/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/home/sweeks/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/cygdrive/c/WINNT/system32:/cygdrive/c/WINNT

Sorry, what's ANL?

Do you really mean to imply that this weirdness only happens if you do
"ls x" with CWD "x"? That is, does "ls y" work, for some y not equal
to x? E.g. "ls /usr/local" with CWD "/usr"?

I don't see any of this ls weirdness with my system. Did you install
with their setup.exe program? I'd recommend doing that. I
experienced lots of problems (with stuff other than MLton) when I
tried a nonstandard setup of Cygwin. Once I reinstalled using
setup.exe with all their defaults, including putting Cygwin in
C:\cygwin, the problems went away.

BTW, do you mind if I forward our messages back to MLton-user so that
they are archived?
