VMWare doesn't really emulate the hardware, it just sets up things so that
`funny' things get trapped.  Since pretty much all of the VM mapping (including
TLB miss lookup) is in the hardware, I don't think that you should see any
slow down for that kind of stuff.  Having less physical memory is different.
Also if other daemons are running then they will cost you something
