My questions were not for compiling mlprof, where the Makefile tells me what
to do. They were for my test programs for the fixed Regex.
The Pervasive answers the question of how I get to the standard basis stuff.

My point is that I don't understand wny there isn't a .cm file that I can
mention which will give me all the MLton library stuff in both SML/NJ and
in MLton. Having to list all the individual files in the .cm file that
MLton uses seems to be a pain.

In regards to IO speeds, I was really disappointed to see that TextIO.input1
seems to be about 4 times slower than C stdio (assuming you don't use the
multi-threaded getchar). I haven't had a chance to figure out why it is
so bad, but it really hurts.
